The story of volcanic
Once upon a time, there was no colour in cookware. Then, in 1925, Le Creuset came along to rewrite the story. Enter Volcanic – a flame orange, inspired by the fiery colour of molten cast iron. Bold, bright and energising, it became an icon.
Volcanic is a true classic – it’s transcended trends and generations. And it makes as much of a statement today as it did almost a century ago. The legend lives on.

Since 1925
Le Creuset was founded when two Belgian industrialists met at the Brussels Fair — one, a specialist in enamelling; the other, an expert in casting. Jointly they 'cracked the code' to enamelling cast iron and brought colour to the kitchen.
Inspired by the fiery orange colour of molten cast iron inside the foundry moulds, our founders’ first enamel colour — volcanic — has become our signature hue. Vivid and unmistakable, it instantly says ‘Le Creuset’ to those in the know.
